In May of 2021, Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento and the Sacramento Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women co-sponsored a Freda Fund art-themed birthday and graduation celebration with special gift deliveries and a Zoom party.
Foster teens received art-themed gift bags including bracelet beading kits, painting supplies and a ceramic bowl which they personally decorated, along with a cupcake and gift card.
Many thanks to our friends and community partners for your dedication, thoughtfulness and kindness to make this celebration possible. Cheers to artist Lisa Feldman for making and firing the bowls and providing inspiration and instruction to the students; to Amina Harris, who donated bracelet beading kits; and to NCJW Sacramento VP Sheila Wolfe and NCJW volunteers for organizing, assembling and helping deliver the gift bags.
A huge thank you to Freda Fund for celebrating our 2021 graduates! These young adults persevered through being in foster care, virtual learning in a pandemic, feeling just as uncertain as the rest of us, and still came out on the other side with their diplomas! I cannot express how proud I am of their hard work, and their "never give up" spirit. This was the pure definition of resiliency.

Thank you Freda Fund for never forgetting our youth, acknowledging and celebrating them even in the most challenging of times.
Here's to the next 2021–2022 school year! Looking forward to even more celebrations, events and smiles from everyone involved.
